The Queensland Council of Deans of Educaton (QCDE) is the peak body representing Queensland Teacher Education Providers, University Schools and Colleges and Faculties of Education. The QCDE leads the delivery and development of initial Teacher Education programs, graduate and postgraduate education programs, partnerships with education providers and research. QCDE acts as an advocate for pre-service and in-service teacher education.

The QCDE is the peak body of leaders from Education Faculties, Schools and Academic Groups within Higher Education Providers of Queensland.

The QCDE consists of representatives from every Higher Education Provider that has accredited initial teacher education programs with the Queensland College of Teachers.

The QCDE serves to protect and promote the interests of education and to ensure that the public maintains confidence in the preparation of pre-service teachers, as well as the quality of graduates from all education programs.

The QCDE celebrates the diversity of programs offered by every Higher Education provider in Queensland.

The QCDE actively supports, promotes and engages with educational research at all levels.

ABOUT

The Queensland Council of Deans of Education fulfils its role by:
  • Providing a regular forum in which Deans of Education meet to share information about education.
  • Providing a regular forum in which Deans of Education and peak providers of school education (DET Qld, Catholic Schools Office and Independent Schools Queensland) meet to share information about education.
  • Enhancing the public confidence of teacher education.
  • Facilitating collaboration in education including special interest groups within education.
  • Encouraging and supporting research in education.
  • Establishing mechanisms for monitoring the quality and status of education.
  • Debating education issues of policy and administration.
  • Providing independent objective comment and advice to Federal and State Government and other agencies on issues in education.

  • Providing an informed public voice on matters associated with education.
  • Affiliating with other organizations to enhance the interests of education.

CONSTITUTION

QCDE is the Queensland state affiliate of the Australian Council of Deans of Education.
